LESSON TIMES:
Lessons are offered on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 3-8 PM (other times by special arrangement). Group classes are monthly on Saturdays at 3:30-4:30 PM and 4:30-5:30 PM. The two groups are divided by age, regardless of skill level of the individual students. The group classes are to prepare students for ensemble playing and to develop theory and performance skills. Studio group classes may sometimes be offered in an online (Zoom) format in cooperation with other Suzuki teachers. When this alternate format is adopted, the calendar dates may change and this class is substituted for the regular studio group classes. The December group class may be substituted by the Holiday Serenades at Dulles Town Center.
TUITION AND FEES
REGISTRATION: A non-refundable fee of $75 per student guarantees your place in the schedule and covers professional membership dues for the teacher, two studio recitals, and your student's participation in the National Guild of Piano Teachers auditions each spring.
PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES: Each student may also participate in the fall and spring recitals sponsored by the Fairfax Loudoun Music Fellowship at Reston Community Center (Oct. 16 and April 30) and at Ashby Ponds in Ashburn, VA., on April 23. They may also play at the holiday serenades in December at Dulles Town Center in Sterling. Students can play duets for the FLMF Ensemble Festival in Ashburn on Feb. 12, 2023 and the all-instrument Suzuki Solo recital in Rockville, MD on Feb. 11, 2023. Studio recitals will occur in Winter and Spring (dates to be announced). These events have fees in the $15-21 range that are not included in the tuition.
PIANO GUILD AUDITIONS: All students take part in the National Guild of Piano Teachers auditions each spring. There is no extra charge for this. Each student plays memorized pieces for a master teacher who will give them a detailed report card, certificate and pin.
Tuition is spread evenly over nine months from August to May (See Calendar). Each semester includes 16 individual lessons and four group classes. Payment may be made by the semester in August and February or by the tenth of each month.
The semester rate is $938 for the 45-minute lessons and $1210 for the 60-minute lessons if paid in advance (a 2% discount). Young siblings may share a 60-minute lesson time for the first year.
Monthly tuition is $192 for 45-minute lessons, and $248 for 60-minute lessons. Fifteen-minute increments over these times will be an additional $56 per month. Please note that this is a ten-month EVEN BILLING plan, and some months will have more lessons and others will have fewer. The rate is always the same. If you do not pay for the semester in advance, please arrange for direct payment from your bank or Venmo.
PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCE: The first lesson before beginning each new book in the Suzuki series will be devoted to a one-hour parent-teacher conference. These can be scheduled at a different time from the regular lessons, in order for both parents to take part, and can also be done virtually over Zoom.
